McIntyre Tate attorney is successful in obtaining a writ of certiorari in Rhode Island Supreme Court

McIntyre Tate LLP partner David Strachman was recently successful in petitioning the Rhode Island Supreme Court for a writ of certiorari on behalf of an East Providence resident who was denied his civil rights regarding the issuance of a license to carry a concealed weapon. The unusual proceeding occurs when an applicant seeks to review a denial of an application by a local municipal licensing authority. In Gadomski v. East Providence, the applicant's license was denied in a four sentence letter ruling. Now that the Supreme Court has accepted the appeal, the case will be heard by the full court. This civil rights case is likely to be precedent setting as it will be the first Rhode Island Supreme Court decision involving review of a municipal adjudication of an application to carry a concealed weapons permit under Rhode Island statute.
